A rare opportunity to get close to mangroves! |
Come, join us for a leisurely 1-hour guided paddle where our volunteer guides will share interesting facts on the flora and fauna along the river, the importance of our coastal forests, and what we can do to conserve them. This trip is suitable for both adults and children.
Double kayaks will be used for all participants to self-paddle. Participants need to be 8 years old and above. All junior participants under 12 years old must be accompanied by parents or adult guardians on the same kayak. More details will be provided to those who register for the activity.

Hi, when will registration be open? Thank you
ReplyDeleteThanks for your interest Jassy!
ReplyDeleteRegistration will open about a week before the activity. When registration opens, it will be announced on the Pesta Ubin facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pulauubinday/
Is there a minimum age to participate?
ReplyDeleteThat's a great question. The minimum age is 8 years old. All junior participants under 12 years old must be accompanied by parents or adult guardians on the same kayak.
ReplyDeleteSorry these details were not in the ad. I've added them.
Hi do I need kayaking license for this activity?
ReplyDeleteThat's a great question. The organiser replies: "No need any kayaking certification. But good to be comfortable with water activities."
DeleteBoth the Round Ketam and Mangrove Kayaking Expedition min age is 7yr old while Kayaking Sungei Jelutong is 8yr old. Is Kayaking Sungei Jelutong technically more demanding?
ReplyDeleteHello. My name is Ria and I volunteer to help coordinate Pesta Ubin.
DeleteEach of the activities are offered by different groups of people who love Ubin.
Each have their own terms and conditions according to their capabilities and preferences.
The Round Ketam and Mangrove Kayaking Expedition is conducted by Asian Detours.
While the Sungei Jelutong kaykaing is conducted by volunteers of the Nature Society.
I believe we should respect what each group feels they can best manage?
I do not think the different terms suggest technical differences.
Pesta Ubin activities are offered organically, by volunteers on a personal basis.
They are NOT standardised mass activities.
Hi when will the registration be opening as it is about 1 week later? Very keen to participate with kids
