5 Jun (Sun): Kayaking Sungei Jelutong with Nature Society (Singapore) and Kayakasia

For families and kids! Explore Sungei Jelutong. A gem in the heart of rustic Pulau Ubin, it is one of the most interesting mangrove rivers in Singapore.
Kayaking at Jelutong mangroves
A rare opportunity to get close to mangroves!

Come, join us for a leisurely 1-hour guided paddle where our volunteer guides will share interesting facts on the flora and fauna along the river, the importance of our coastal forests, and what we can do to conserve them. This trip is suitable for both adults and children.

Double kayaks will be used for all participants to self-paddle. Participants need to be 8 years old and above. All junior participants under 12 years old must be accompanied by parents or adult guardians on the same kayak. More details will be provided to those who register for the activity.
Date: 5 Jun (Sun)
Time: At intervals from 9m to 3pm. Each trip will last 1.5 hours including safety briefing.
Meeting point: The kayak launching station is located next to Jelutong bridge, near Ah Ma's Drink Stall. About 1km or 20-30min walk from Ubin Jetty (map).

Lisa Lim gives a safety briefing at the start of the paddle.

    1. That's a great question. The organiser replies: "No need any kayaking certification. But good to be comfortable with water activities."

  6. Both the Round Ketam and Mangrove Kayaking Expedition min age is 7yr old while Kayaking Sungei Jelutong is 8yr old. Is Kayaking Sungei Jelutong technically more demanding?

    1. Hello. My name is Ria and I volunteer to help coordinate Pesta Ubin.

Each of the activities are offered by different groups of people who love Ubin.

Each have their own terms and conditions according to their capabilities and preferences.

The Round Ketam and Mangrove Kayaking Expedition is conducted by Asian Detours.

While the Sungei Jelutong kaykaing is conducted by volunteers of the Nature Society.

I believe we should respect what each group feels they can best manage?

I do not think the different terms suggest technical differences.

Pesta Ubin activities are offered organically, by volunteers on a personal basis.

They are NOT standardised mass activities.
